The Adelaide Oval Redevelopment has created a sports and entertainment precinct where the internal space is a celebration of its context and purpose, adding to the life and vibrancy of the city of Adelaide.
The Oval project is conceived as three pavilions within a parkland setting, responding to the context of their site and balancing against each other with use of form and material expression. Deconstructing the idea of a sport language and the history of the ground, formed key design principles for the architecture and interiors which resonate with the unique culture of Adelaide Oval, creating a new sporting and cultural history for all South Australians.
The design team worked collaboratively to deliver a flexible, adaptable, healthy and sustainable facility. It had to be dynamic, iconic, and most importantly, not just a stadium but a flexible and memorable interior experience for all visitors.
