Russell Lee


Russell is one of the practice’s directors for sports, leisure and hospitality projects and has specialised in these facilities for over 25 years. He is recognised as a leader in his field having provided advice to clients on a range of projects. In addition to this, Russell practices in the commercial and education sectors, and is experienced in master planning.

Russell’s primary role is to direct projects from concept through to completion. His experience also provides clients with valuable assistance in brief development and feasibility studies.

He is responsible for many of the firm’s innovative sports and community leisure facilities including the Sydney International Athletic Stadium; the 1998 Asian Games Aquatic and Athletic facilities in Bangkok; and the entertainment/sports complex, Sydney Superdome at Homebush Bay. His most recent completed stadia include the Khalifa Stadium for the Asian Games in Qatar and the redevelopment of the Sydney Cricket Ground.

His major master planning experience includes the Doha Asian Games site, the recent Dubai Festival City in the UAE and the FFA’s bid for the 2018-2022 FIFA World Cup.

Russell has completed projects in Australia and internationally and has maintained a high level of industry participation through lectures, seminars and study tours. His projects have won many awards, including IOC/IAKS Gold and Silver medals.
