St Germain is a new multi-residential apartment building in the inner-city Campbell 5 housing precinct. It occupies a prominent position on Anzac Parade, in an established suburb where the concept of urban infill has been resisted. The development successfully responds to the existing character of the area in a complementary manner using simple forms and restrained materials.
The building design presents an interesting typology in Canberra’s new apartment market and is notable for the emphasis on resident amenity and comfort. All fifty apartments are north facing with views across parkland and out to Mt. Ainslie beyond. Three large atria puncture the building form to allow light and ventilation to penetrate the deep floor plate. On the ground floor, a community dining room and common space is provided for residents.
This model has proved immensely successful with the apartment offering sold out in record time, proving that a true focus on longevity, quality and lifestyle amenity will be rewarded.
