Adelaide Botanic High

Adelaide, South Australia

We are very proud to be involved in this important education project for Adelaide, which provides a new multi-disciplinary learning environment in a remarkable parkland setting. In creating the concept for the new city high school, our desire was to create a contemporary and innovative learning environment that has a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Once completed this school will become a vital part of an established education precinct consisting of major universities, the Adelaide Zoo, and the Botanic Gardens.

Our design will transform the current Reid building and its surrounding site to create a vertical high school, with flexible learning spaces interconnected via an “active atrium” over five levels. The STEM and inter-disciplinary focus of the school will be on display with a Gallery/Exhibition space located on ground level and a series of learning pods expressed into the central atrium space. The internal space is conceived as a continuation of the external landscape and parkland setting, creating vital indoor and outdoor connectivity to enhance the student learning experience.
