Australian Institute of Sport Aquatic Testing and Training Centre

Bruce, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory

The AIS Aquatic Testing and Training Facility provides first class facilities for the training and testing of elite swimmers. The state-of-the-art pool is designed to produce world records, providing coaches, athletes and scientists with unique training and performance analysis facilities.

Double glazed walls and indirect overhead operating windows provide excellent controlled natural light while the whole building can be opened to create a natural outdoor swimming environment. The filtration system provides the highest quality recycled pool water, allowing clear underwater vision for the full 50-metre length of the pool.

Concealed camera tracking systems, underwater video recording, moveable boom and performance monitoring equipment are readily available. The unique folded aluminium roof structural system was developed by Cox to provide high quality thermal, acoustic and condensation performance and to minimize maintenance costs.
