Australian Film Television and Radio School

Moore Park, Sydney, New South Wales

The Australian Film Television and Radio School’s new premises is located in The Entertainment Quarter, adjacent Fox Studios. As Australia’s preeminent tertiary education provider for professional Media Studies, the School integrates teaching and administrative spaces coupled with technical teaching spaces, comprising Film/Television, Radio and Recording Studios, Theatres, Post-Production, Editing Suites, and a publicly accessible Media Resource Centre, Cinema and Cafe.

The building has engendered a significant cultural change in the operation of the School – both in the relationship between the academic staff and students, the interaction between departments and the permeability and openness of the School in its engagement with the public domain – primarily addressed through a large naturally lit and ventilated atrium space in which all main departments have a presence, and in which the public is encouraged to participate.
